Tips For Reducing Volume Of Thick And Heavy Hair

your hair

People with curly hair want straight hair. People with straight hair yearn for some bounce and curl. People with thin hair wish it was fuller, thicker. And, of-course, those who have an abundance of thick hair, long for lighter, thinner hair. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence it seems.

It's not only desiring what you do not have that causes men and women with thick hair to desire to decrease their tresses. Thicker hair can be quite difficult to manage. Not only is it a lot more likely to tangle, it also carries a lot of weight. The extra weight can make styling an effort, but it may also trigger headaches and other problems. A lot of women complain of hair headaches after wearing ponytails or up-do's as a consequence of the weight of their thick hair.

Fortunately, thinning out hair is much easier than trying to make finer hair fuller. Most hairstylists can reduce the volume of your hair by using layers created with a razor. These layers reduce the length of a large portion of the hair, leaving it lighter and less dense. The overall look of a nice full head of hair remains, but in reality a good portion of the hair has been cut away.

You can also thin out your hair at home. Thinning shears have slotted blades that you can use to reduce the volume of your hair without hurting the overall length. It may take some time and practice to get the hang of using them, but it's quite effective at thinning the hair.

Aside from cutting, you can also maintain the weight and thickness of your hair at the very least by selecting light weight shampoos and forgoing the conditioner. Conditioners tend to be heavy by structure, and essentially add volume to your hair by coating every strand of hair. This adds volume and weight to your locks, which is fantastic for thin hair, but not so wonderful for those suffering from a lot of thickness.

If you find that skipping the conditioner allows too many tangles to form in your hair, try using a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, or a conditioning shampoo itself. These types of products are typically lighter and rinse cleaner than adding conditioner separately.

In the end, those with thick hair have the most choices and simplest solutions when it comes to correcting the problem. So if your hair is simply too heavy and full, you can take heart in the fact that it doesn't have to stay that way.
